Wild Buffalo

While on our trip to Nevada/Utah, we had some good times. But none so exciting as the Wild Buffalo hunt. While in Elko, Nevada visiting my parents, Toby and his family were able to come out and spend the weekend also. Much fun was played on the new Wii my parents bought themselves for their 36th year anniversary.

Anyway, my Dad planned some "educational fun" on Saturday. We went down to the Elko museum where they were having an archiology fair. One event was this "Spear the buffalo" thing. First all the kids tried it. As you can guess, Alma thought it was the coolest thing ever - a weapon!

Lili attempted it once, but was done with the excitment after that. Then the adults gave it a try. First my Dad was to show us how it's done. I must say, out of everyone, he was the most entertaining one to watch.
But alas, no harm to the buffalo.

Toby tried next, but he too couldn't catch the buffalo. Next it was Lamoni's turn. He was reluctant to try. He didn't want "to be embarrassed." But through peer-pressure, we made him do it. And what do you know! On his first throw, he struck the buffalo down! What a stink! Yea, my Mom gave him a hard time about "being embarrassed."

Lamoni's comment to me was - "See dear, I can provide for you if times get tough!"
