Alma and Lili couldn't wait to go play, so they headed out first thing. During this time I was "puppy-sitting" for my Mom, and her dog Gidget was staying with us. Gidget liked the snow, and would bound through it like a deer.
Alma was doing a snow-angel and Gidget thought she'd take advantage and climb to higher ground for a while. . .
Here she is hiding under my van. . . Jessie, my dog, didn't like the snow one bit - and stayed out of it as much as possible. (hence, there are very few pictures of her in the snow.)
The kids warming up near the fire. They were waiting for Nora and Laurel to come so they could get "round two" out in the snow.
For all that snow we got - it wasn't any good for making snowmen! It was completely POWDER! Terrible for building!! But, we worked with what we were given. (We eventually started bringing water from the tap out to mix with the powder, attempting to make some moldable slushy snow. . .)
Nora using a cardboard sheet to help form the snowman. (Go green!)
The kids helping. Samuel brought the carrot for the nose!
Laurel also joined in on the fun!
After a few minutes, the little kids were bored, and sat to watch the Adults continue with the project. . .
MaryAlice enjoying the snow. "I can't put my arms down!"
Finally, after some architectural problems. We were nearing the completion of the snowman. Alma sought out the rocks for the eyes and mouth. Samuel provided the carrot he brought for the nose. I snatched a hat and scarf from our house, and Ta-Da! A Snowman is born!
Laurel added these perfect "eyebrows" to the Snowman - love it!
Ta-Da! What a beautiful snowman. (It looks like he's been melting for a few days) We called him the "Jabba the Hut Snowman".
Alma decided to add one more item. . . "He needs mittens!"
Perfect!
