Lamoni remembers having chickens when he was a boy, so he thought it would be a good experience for our kids to have chickens too. He brought home 16 baby chicks for Easter and now we're down to 14. (not bad. . . we thought we'd loose more than that.) Most of the Chicks are "Bantam Chicks" they stay pretty small and are supposed to be good for kids. We have 4 full size chickens and hope they are hens!! for the eggs!!!
Well, we've had these chicks since Easter and I've meant to do this since then. . . doin' pretty good right?!?
Lets meet the chicks! (we have 14, some look like twins, so I only took pictures of one of them, and some we couldn't catch. . . so here's what we have!)
Meet Alma's favorite. . . "Hose". Alma named him and loves him to death. (I think he's going to be a rooster. . . uh oh!)
Meet "Booty". Lili's favorite whom she named. Booty looks a lot like Hose and they are friends.
Meet "Doo Doo". Named by Lamoni. He got his name because when he was a baby chick, he had lots of poo on his bum, so Lamoni called him "Doo Doo".
Meet one of the Pirates. We have two that look like this. They are full size chickens and have a black spot on their back. (it's now hidden by their wings) Because of this black spot, we named them, "Jack Sparrow" and of course. . . "Davy Jones". Because some pirates get the black spot right?
Meet "Fuzz". (or Fuzzy) Another twin set, there are two that look just like this. They are feather footed and look funny when they walk. Lamoni named them Fuzz and Fuzzy.

Meet "Angel" She was the one Lili stepped on when they were just days old. We thought she was going to die, that's why she was named "Angel". But as you can see. . . she's alive!! She limps a little bit, but she's a fighter.

Meet "Hat". He's got to be my favorite Chicken. He makes me laugh so hard. Doesn't he look awesome?!? Total Bird Brain! He's a "Sultan Chicken" and it's totally hilarious. He's got quite the personality too. He's probably a rooster too. Very "bossy" and very brave. Such a funny bird.

Feeding Time!!

Feeding Time!!
Here's "Hat". . . speaking his mind. . .

My grandparents had chickens when we were kids and we loved feeding them and getting the eggs.
You have some funky looking chicks I might add... I am loving the names too!
I had no idea chickens could look so funny! I think you guys are awesome for housing a bunch of birds. If you ever want to get rid of a few, I'll send you my cat for a few days.....
