First Mouse

A few weeks ago I discovered our "first mouse".  Now let me explain. . . It was morning, and I was walking into our kitchen when a mouse ran from one end of the kitchen, to the other hiding under the dishwasher.  I screamed (of course) and explained to Lamoni what I saw.  My screaming woke the kids up, and my precious Lili wouldn't let the event go! She kept asking questions all day long.  I felt like I was in a room with dim lighting being badgered with "good cop, bad cop" questions. . . "Did you see the mouse? Was it furry? Did you see his tiny eyes?"  and so on. . . . She was so fascinated by the whole thing.  I myself was trying to forget it!!

Anyway. . . I called my Mom that morning to tell her that I saw a mouse!  She says, and I quote. . . "Oh, that's nice dear, you found your first mouse of the season."  What!?!?! I said, what do you mean, "my FIRST mouse?"  She just laughed at me.  Yea, so I guess I'm to expect more mice. . . we'll see about that!

So, Lamoni set 4 mouse traps under the dishwasher.  I bought the mouse traps this time.  They are the good old fashioned -squash -the- mouse -to -smithereens kind of mouse traps.  We tried the be-nice-to-the-mouse mousetraps, but they didn't quite work for us. . . click here for the story.

The traps had "fake" cheese painted on them, and it has been a few weeks with no success.  We knew that the mouse couldn't be fooled by "fake" cheese, so we put real cheese and peanut butter on them. (thanks for the idea Mom!) a few days later it worked! Last night we caught our "FIRST" mouse!  Hopefully we won't find our "SECOND" anytime soon!
